Humboldt Farms Hosts First Wellness Experience at Historic Northern Nights Music Festival

Yoga, breathwork, cacao and cannabis! What a spectacular weekend we had, July 19th to the 21st, co-creating the first cannabis-infused wellness experience at Northern Nights Music Festival, the Emerald Triangle’s premiere live music and camping experience.

Now in its seventh installment, Northern Nights was especially historic this year for being the first three-day overnight camping festival in the country to allow the recreational dispensing and use of cannabis via AB2020. Nestled in the Redwoods on the Eel River, Northern Nights is known for marrying cannabis and festival culture, and Humboldt Farms was thrilled to conceptualize the first cannabis-infused wellness experience at the festival, titled Re-Creation.

We developed Re-Creation with Letesha Holley and Nate Mezmer, co-founder of San Francisco’s City Fit Fest, that took place during the weekend of the festival. Both Saturday and Sunday offered classes exploring mindfulness, movement, healing, and community, combined with the restorative powers of Humboldt Farms flower.

In our ongoing commitment to the arts, we also had a Poem + Polaroid pop-up, and a Write A Postcard To Your Future Self station. Festival-goers were asked to answer two questions on a postcard: 1) What do you love about cannabis? 2) What do you love about yourself? We held on to the postcards and will be mailing them on the next full moon.

A highlight of the weekend was a conversation with Humboldt Farms’ co-founder Liz Lux titled Cosmic Consciousness: Cannabis and Medicinal Plants for Life & Death. After sharing flower in sacred communion, Liz took us on a cosmic carpet ride through an intellectual discussion on the nature of consciousness and plants, and her experiences as a death doula. Rounding out the Re-Creation weekend was a soul jam with Nina Grae, in which all participants were welcomed to offer a song, a story, a creative expression in a free form jam session. Other workshops over the weekend included:

Breathwork & Cacao guided by Paola Ucelo, Self Care: Cannabis & CBD 101 with Letesha Holley, Self-Massage and Stoned Yoga with neuromuscular therapist Katy Karns, Movement is Medicine with movement coach Vishal Kumar, Restorative Acro Yoga with Adam Frater & Sammie Mancine, CBD & TLC with Relationship Coach Leah Morris, Hypno Trance Dance with Amanda Silvati, and Infused Yoga with Kaeli Renae.

Huge thanks to Nate Mezmer and Letesha Holley for helping to create such an impactful weekend, and to Kaeli Renae for her artistic touch. Special thanks to our Humboldt Farms team members who kept participants hydrated and happy, and kept the vibe super high all weekend. Lastly, thank you to Northern Nights Music Festival for having the vision to incorporate wellness into the festival. We’ll see you next year!
